The Democrats are against bi-partisanship: Judiciary Committee Disaster part 3

Jonah Goldberg // October 31st 2022

Once again the Democrats have proved to be incapable of common sense decision making. During the Judiciary Committee meeting today the Democrats were so against bi-partisanship that they voted against a simple markup amendment on the “Loop Act”.

“ I find it deeply disturbing that when I attempt to introduce amendments to clarify texts that are incorrectly cited such as the United States Code where they have cited a section that does not exist. The democrats, along party lines, voted against a simple markup amendment.” - Senator Cruz

The sole reason the Democrats voted against this amendment was because of their cult-like partisanship and unwillingness to listen to their Republican colleagues. I am convinced that the majority of the Democrats on that committee aren't even paying attention and are simply voting in spite of their Republican colleagues as opposed to their actual interests and beliefs. The voting done by the democratic party today was far from strategic, and completely prevented their own legislation from bipartisan consideration.

The Democrats preach bi-partisanship and constantly complain and accuse the Republicans of selfishly being against cooperation yet, they are not even able to look past their party lines to accept something as simple as a common sense markup.

If the Democrats won't even accept a markup amendment, they are deluded in thinking that ANY bi-partisan legislation is within the realm of possibility. The Democratic Party will stop at nothing to ensure that nothing gets done in the Judiciary Committee, and have prevented the committee from running more efficiently.
