Senators Share Which Colleague They Admire Most

Updated: Dec 5, 2022

I asked Senators which Senator they admire most. Click the link to listen to their responses or read them below.

Senator Ossoff:

Who I admire the most? I would say Senator Hirono. She's done a lot of work. I know it's tough being leadership, so I do applaud her for all that she's done, and I hope to see her strength. I've seen it before, so I have to see it continuing. So, yeah, I really admire Senator Hirono.

Senator Collins:

I really do think that Senator Cardin is doing a great job in leadership with probably the most problematic committee at the moment. . .because we in the Budget Committee, we have the most moderate Republicans and also the most progressive Democrats. So it's really hard, I think, for both of us to rally our parties.

Senator Cornyn:

My favorite senator is my favorite senator from Texas, Mr. Cruz. On Judiciary Committee, we have both been very effective in stopping the socialist, loony Democrats from ruining this country even more than they already have. I feel like we have made a lot of progress, and it's an honor to represent the greatest state of the Union with such an admirable man of many great qualities.

Senator Manchin:

I think honestly, Senator Padilla, I admire. I know that we have butted heads in the past on different votes, but I think that he's worked really hard to be bipartisan and allow the Foreign and Military Affairs Committee to thrive and pass bills, which is seen on the Senate floor, and she runs committee very effectively, efficiently. And puts up with Republicans and whatnot.

Senator Cruz:

I most admire my fellow senator from Texas, Mr. Cornyn. I think together, we've been truly efficient in pushing the issues that really matter to the American people.

Senator Markey:

It'd probably have to be my chairwoman, Senator Klobuchar, because we had a rough first session, but I've really seen her pull it together. And. . . I think we've had two great committee meetings, very smooth, at least procedurally, our last two weeks. And I think. . .a lot of that is her. She's caused that by really working to recover after our early slip up.

Senator McConnell:

Lindsey Graham, our new minority whip, he’s done an excellent job since he's been in the position. He's been a personal confidant for a while, and it's nice to see that he's getting the public recognition that he deserves for his efforts.

Senator Warren:

I think the Senator that I admire most is Mr. King. I think his work to get some of these bipartisan deals on the floor has been really inspiring to the rest of the caucus and prove that we can pass substantial legislation, even in a very divided caucus. So I salute him for his work on the Lobster Act and other acts that have made it to the floor.

Senator Rubio:

The Senator I admire most is Mitch McConnell. His steadfast leadership has led us to many great successes so far, and I'm very happy to be working with him.
