The Washington Watch closely followed Senator Warnock’s November race for re-election in what was said to be a toss-up race against retired pro football player Herschel Walker. Herschel Walker was endorsed by Trump leading up to his election, opening the question of whether his endorsement would hurt or help Walker in his race.
In the end, neither Walker nor Warnock achieved over 50% of the votes, sending both of them into a runoff election to be held in early December. With less than a week to go before the election, new stories have come to light about Walker, potentially making Warnock’s victory easier than previously thought.
Before the November election, Walker already was surrounded by controversy. It was revealed in October that Walker, an outspoken pro-life supporter, had previously paid for not one but two past partners to obtain an abortion after finding out they were pregnant. While Walker vehemently denied these claims, many people were certain he was lying.
Walker is also the father of popular conservative TikTok star Christian Walker who has also been caught in his own scandals over his very conservative views and behavior.
But what may be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Walker is the recent revelation that Walker’s Atlanta residence was being used as a rental property as recently as 2021. In fact, Walker’s wife is listed as the only owner of the Atlanta property, not Walker himself. It was also revealed through Walker’s tax records that he had received a tax exemption on his home in Texas, an exemption that is only available to primary residents.
While all of this does not undermine Walker’s status as a Senate candidate, it does not reflect well on his devotion to Georgia. Similarly to Pennsylvania’s Senate race this November, with many citing Oz’s major reason for loss being that he was not enough of a Pennsylvania, the same could hold true for Walker as well.
The Washington Watch will continue to report on any updates about the Georgia runoff election which is expected to occur on Tuesday, December 6th.
