By Kaitlan Collins

Biden signed two more bills into law this Wednesday, the “Veteran’s Telehealth Expansion and Accessibility Act” and the “Time to Process Act”.

Both bills garnered major bipartisan support on the floor. All senators present but Senators Hawley and Paul voted in favor of both bills.

The Veteran’s Telehealth Bill will create a grant program to aid in expanding the “provision of telehealth services to veterans.” Senator Collins was very excited to have her first bill passed in this Congress session. Collins stated, “I would like to thank all of the co-sponsors of this bill, and everyone who helped turn this bill into law. Effective Healthcare is critical to our brave veterans, and I am grateful that this legislation will help them receive the support they need. I would like to extend my appreciation to the Biden Administration as well for their support.”

Senator Gillibrand was in the same boat as Collins. The Time to Process Act was also Gillibrand’s first bill to be signed into law during this session. The bill focused on expanding the statute of limitations for sexual assault to a minimum of seven years in all states.

With the signing of her bill into law on Wednesday, Senator Gillibrand expressed, “I am absolutely thrilled my Time to Process bill has been signed into law. This is a huge step America is taking to combat sexual assault and sexual violence, I am especially proud we were able to work together as a congress to get this through! I am excited for the future to introduce more legislation to combat sex crimes and I hope to do so with continued bipartisan support.”

Biden expressed similar sentiments. He stated, “I’m very pleased to have signed the Veterans Telehealth Expansion and Accessibility Act and the Time to Process Act of 2022 into law. These two bills are extraordinary pieces of legislation that will make a positive impact on millions of Americans. Thank you to Senator Gillibrand and Senator Collins for your dedication to combating these issues and to the American people.”

The Biden administration, Democrats, and Republicans all continue to prove they are truly committed to bipartisanship in this session of Congress. We are all eagerly awaiting the continual passage of many more beneficial bills in the coming weeks.
