In the republican caucus on Wednesday, a lobbyist entered to ask the Republicans if they support workers and no one raised their hands. Similarly, they had been asked if they were in support of union and many laughed. Senator Scott had even started choking on his water from laughing so hard. The lobbyist was stressing that workers are being mistreated and aren’t being paid enough and the Republicans laughed. Do they understand that there is so much mistreatment of AMERICAN WORKERS? This goes to show the inefficiency of the Republican Party in helping their constituents, as there is a blatant disregard for their struggles. These workers are working so hard, and they are laughed at by the people that are supposed to protect them and help them. It is a horror we are seeing.
In the floor session, we saw the Republicans taking more time to debate than allowed. Senator Cruz, Cornyn, and other republican senators would continue speaking when told their time was over. They did not understand that rules are rules. Senator Cruz thought he was slick when he was continuing to speak while slowly sitting back in his seat after being told his time was over. He continued to speak over time when that was not allowed. I’m surprised he did not have any repercussions for doing that.
Simply put, the Republicans don’t care about anything but themselves. They are trying to put things back to the way it was back in the 1800’s, first with opposing the same sex marriage bill. We, in America, are not making the necessary strides to true social progression. Many senators on the republican side claim that same sex marriage and interracial marriage is no issue, yet supreme court justice Clarence Thomas announced he wanted to overturn that legislation. It is an issue, and the democrats are trying to work to prevent that from happening. We are going backwards, and I am afraid it is going to be very hard to fight for what’s right.
