Ben Sasse really stole the show on the first few days of congress. Before being elected as minority whip, he had announced that he will be running for president of the United States of America in 2024 after his 2 year break being in Academia. During the first day of introductions, Ben Sasse formed a huge character and image of himself. First and foremost, Sasse was caught lying about taking 500k from social security to put towards the policing system. When confronted about the statement he said, “That is not true. That was a joke. It was an aside that I should not have made.” With being the minority whip leader, he has some nerve making allegations about such a delicate topic. He also mentioned how Marcia Fudge was “angry” with his crime bill. I spoke with Mrs.Fudge and she said, “He's using money from poor working class Americans,” which is infuriating for us all, not just Mrs.Fudge. Later that evening Senator Sasse had attempted to speak with the Democratic party while they had

been in a private meeting. He infiltrated the meeting and was then kicked out and screamed at to leave. After this occurrence and many others from that night, he had been called “childish”, “unprofessional”, and “irrational” by many Democrats and Republicans. When posted on our other media about what he said, he had a few strong words to say to the press. After being called out for his jokes Senator Sasse began his rant with, “ As a strong and principle conservative, I WILL NOT stand by your negative press reporting of conservatives in this country and conservative values, that I fight hard everyday for almost 8 years.” I proceeded to ask him about his running for minority whip in which he refused to answer and commented that, “The Washington Watch is a disgrace, they are reporting negatively about me, and I REBUKE.” Looks like someone can’t take criticism or being called out for the outrageous things he says. Ben Sasse officially was named by an anonymous Democrat, “Ben Sassy” for his outlandish remarks toward the press and bad sportsmanship. I believe it is also important to mention how Sasse has announced his candidacy for minority whip, yet he was

snacking and having a conversation instead of paying attention to his fellow senators and what they had to say. Yikes. This is really who you elected for minority whip? He has shown everything is in his own interest, especially since he announced he was retiring at the end of this term. And yet you still chose him? All I have to say is you are doomed Republicans.

The following day was the first meeting of the caucuses. In these meetings, Ben Sasse was elected Minority whip. With this decision, I fear for the Republican party because they just

ree

selected someone who is: compulsive, unprofessional, childish, and irrational to lead them in the “right direction” and to pass legislation. When interviewing minority leader Senator Mitch McConnell about working with Sasse and the party he stated, “Sasse is a character. He brings a lot of press and eyes to the party. I think there is some media training that needs to be done to HONE the image. But I’m excited to work with my fellow Republicans.” Even his own party leader had admitted to him needing work with “media training” after everything he's done and said to the press. Many others from his party have also said that he is a difficult person to work with, but they have hope that he may be good for their party. Hope is all they can have. They have no certainty that he will be a good leader.

At the first committee meeting, Sasse attempted to kick out the press from the Foreign and Military Affairs committee. After the Rules had been agreed on in committee, Sasse attempted to alter the rules to keep press out. When he was not allowed to change the rules that had already passed and been voted on, he attempted to pass an amendment for the day in which the press would be removed from committee. When asked if this amendment was to be voted on (aka asking for a second) no one said anything. In a panic, Senator Sasse hit his fellow Senator, Senator Scott, in the leg and demanded him to second the motion. In this instance, Senator Scott quickly shot up from his chair and seconded the motion. Like any person would, we all were shocked and started laughing because it looks like Sasse isn't even influential enough to his own party. When all was voted on Sasse lost and his amendment was denied. During voting all the Democrats voted against him and even Senator McConnell and Rubio voted against him. Before this, Sasse asked to change a policy which had already been stated in the document. This shows how lazy he is that he doesn’t even read his policies before going into a meeting. Some minority whip you have going there Republicans. During the committee, Sasse and a few of the lobbyists were seen gossiping

ree

about the press as we sat there trying to gather information to be transparent with the American people. They then motioned to get rid of us, but failed. Seems as if Sasse is trying to hide something big from the people, but don't worry I will uncover all the truth behind him and our congress.

In all we can say that Sasse has shown himself to be unprofessional, lazy, sensitive, irresponsible, irrational, childish, and uncooperative. Anything that threatens his power he tries to get rid of. This does not sound like a democracy. This sounds like he is a crazy dictator trying to take control of the Republican party and the US to benefit his own interests. Not the people of America. So with that I say, God Bless the Republican party and America. Sasse will be gone at the end of this term, but he still has so much time to do so much damage. And it is prevalent that he is being careless since nothing can affect him when he leaves.
